Episode # 38 – Life is suffering
According to Buddhism life is suffering.Sure, why not. The world is full of tragedy, malevolence and betrayal and it’s easy to see yourself as a victim.
Life can be a terrible burden and if you’re suffering there are a few things you can do. One of them is shake your fist at God and tell Him that the structure of reality is flawed. Good luck with that one.
You can also choose to accept the fact that life is suffering and ask yourself a very important question: what am I going to do in spite of the suffering? You could take on the responsibility and transcend the suffering by admitting to yourself that you’re not everything you could be. There is something wrong with you and that gives hope because you can fix yourself. You can make yourself better so you can actually bear with all the tragedy life has to offer.
Positive emotions like happiness, joy and enthusiasm comes from moving toward a valued goal. What does a valued goal look like to you?
