Episode # 29 – Nothing compares to you

How to deal with comparing yourself to other people? The more we compare ourselves to others, the worse we feel about ourselves.

Comparing ourselves to others is toxic for many reasons, but the one that’s most damaging is what it does to our self-worth. We feel “less than” when we compare, we feel like we are not good enough and that somehow we need to do better. Although that can be a good stimulation, the downside is that constantly comparing leads to depression and anxiety.

What can we do to avoid this feeling? It’s no secret that social media can be a very toxic place but comparing yourself also takes place in real life. What if you’re surrounded by people who are far more successful than you are? You don’t need to scratch that much below the surface to see that everyone is dealing with a personal problem or a problem in their family.

Interestingly enough the problem of comparing ourselves to others and the corresponding feeling of envy is as old as time. And that’s exactly the place we need to go to find the answer on how to deal with it. I’ll tell you all about it in this video.
